[tex-live] copyright of texlive

It appears that some books have been published with a copy of TeX Live
included (for instance, last year's "Digital Typography Using LaTeX"),
and that the publishers have placed a standard copyright statement on
the CD saying that copying and redistribution is not permitted.

Can I ask those of you about to publish books to check your designs, and
make sure that it is stated very clearly that the CD contains free/open
source software, and that NO CONDITIONS CAN BE PLACED ON COPYING OR
REDISTRIBUTION? Ideally the labelling would actively mention the TeX
User Groups which have produced the CD.

I am not sure what to do about "Digital Typography using LaTeX". Maybe
we should be looking at taking the publisher to court on this.
Apostolos, could you let me know the name of your contact at the
publishing company?

One of the TeX Live developers proposes that we should simply halt
production of the CD/DVD entirely, if we cannot be sure that people will
follow the copyright.
