Hallo Peter!

I wasn't referring to these examples, they do work fine with the new
disdvi version. The reason why I was asking for an extended version of
dvitype (which I knew well from working with DVI files) is the problem
of an user writing in Russian with a Cyrillic script. One version of
XeTeX was able to use something like small caps, the other version
failed. Xdvipdfmx is not exactly showing what it is doing with the
intermediate XDV file, so I thought of other means, those that could
show whether the contents of the XDV files is different. (With XeTeX
there is always a chance that XeTeX and xdvipdfmx pick up different
font files with different metrics – and features!)

It's probably best to send you these XDV files and their PDF output
privately again.
