[tex-k] Ongoing problem with use of Small-caps, OSF etc.

Adobe clearly recodes them in some way, though it would be difficult to 
understand how or why.  A few expressly identified small caps are 
permitted in Unicode, in page 1D00, but by no means a full set. ff 
ligatures are provided in page FB00.  Old style figures are provided for 
nowhere, so /"ToUnicode" cannot be providing canonical Unicode values 
for most of what is missing.



I wonder whether what Adobe.com distiller does is recode (on the fly) 
the entire Adobe Expert Character set into a Block in the Private Use Area.
