eh? what about all the stuff in pdfTeX like \pdfliteral, \pdfobj, 
\pdfxform? Not something I do myself,
but people like Hans Hagen and Martin Schroeder make PDF files which sit 
up and beg,
make the tea, and take the dog for a walk, all in technicolour.
