[tex-k] mpost --parse-first-line

The --parse-first-line option has always been a bit problematic
because it does not allow to change the engine.
In the latest teTeX beta, everything except tex itself (and omega) is
now based on pdfetex.
This means that if the header of a metapost file looks like
verbatimtex
%&latex
then tex is launched, but latex depends on pdfetex now.
In my opinion the only reliable solution is to use the exec system
call to run the required program.
A quick fix would be to make etex the default engine in metapost, but
this would not satisfy people who want to use an omega based engine.
Regards,
Reinhard

Microsoft isn't the answer. Microsoft is the question, and the answer is NO.
