I'll change the popen() calls to use a hard-coded "r".
I'm happy to change dvips to run in secure mode by default, although
if this is the case, we'd better clarify the error message to say
*exactly* what to do if secure mode disabled is preferred.
Note that secure mode can be disabled on the command line, and in
a user's .dvipsrc file, so if the admin *really* wants secure mode,
he must compile it that way, but I think this is reasonable. If a
user wants, he can override the security features. I'd like some
more discussion on this before I make the change, or at the very
least, a few more aye's.
So far I've not gotten any bug reports on the new subsetting.
There is a problem with endbinary that I haven't fixed yet (that is
with including an EPSF file with binary content under some
circumstances) and I *must* fix this soon. All the rest on my
plate is (relatively) inconsequential.
