Section 2.12 of the Unicode Standard for the general presentation and
3.7 for the formal definition (definition D70).
that's all very well, and i understand
how *unicode* works. what i'd really
like to see is how this equivalence
is determined in a (la)tex source file.
what tools are available for that
particular purpose? (there has been
a discussion on the unicode discussion
list to the effect that the NamesList
file should *not* be used for this
sort of analysis. this has bearing
on math character composites as well
as on text strings to be hyphenated,
so it's not just idle curiosity.)
