I guess that I agree more and more to that.

Maybe I'll put an unmodified version to the repository (so that
authors will still be able to edit files and will find the structure
as useful as it was before - some authors use some grouping of
patterns) and a little stupid script to "clean" them all into
one-pattern-per-line-with-no-comments.

Removing comments is straightforward. Adding them is not :)
