[tex-eplain] crossing out?

I had to use the alternate solution since I could 
not load ectt1000 on my mac, but I am enquiring 
to learn how to do so.
Anyway, it works!
I tried to load the color package by simply 
invoking \input color.sty as explained in the 
eplain doc,  but it seems that there must be more 
subtle procedure.
Indeed, I get the following error message
