[tex-eplain] multiple alignment within a math display

Hi,

I am big fan of eplain for years.
I wonder how all of you handle the problem
of multiple alignments within a math display.
Upto now I am using something similar to

\def\relieqalign#1{\,\vcenter{\openup1\jot\mathsurround=0pt
    \ialign{\strut\hfil$\displaystyle{##}$ 
                      &$\displaystyle{##}$\hfil 
                      &$\displaystyle{{}##}$\hfil\crcr#1\crcr}}\,}
