[tex-eplain] Bibunits clone

In an academic journal there is need for multiple bibliographies. The 
world of LaTeX has a package called bibunits that allows for this. Has 
anyone considered a macro for eplain that would allow such an application?

Alternatively, each article with its bibliography could be created 
separately. But then how would the various PS files be reunited into a 
single pdf file for publication?

Just some random thoughts on a rainy Saturday.
