[tex-eplain] \psbox in plain tex

I need to put multiple lines in a \psframebox, in a plain tex document, 
and in the middle of a loop. I have tried \obeylines, \hfil\break and a 
table like:
\rput(5,0){
\psframebox{\settabs 1 \columns
\+Standard \cr
\+Mail \cr
\+Permit No. \cr
\+999\cr}}

I either get an error or all the words are strung together in one long 
skinny box, depending on which method I try.

What is the best general solution to this problem?
