TUG'99 Survey Results and Special Call for Papers/Workshops
--------------------- ---------------------------------
We received 25 responses and have summarized the results by listing
below the topics that were most referenced as "interested" in
the survey. This is a special call for papers and workshops on these
topics, in addition to the "Call for Papers" already announced. If you
work in one or more of these areas, please consider submitting an
abstract and/or workshop description. You may be just the person that
your fellow TUG members want to hear.
See the guidelines and deadlines for submissions on
http://www.udel.edu/tug99/callfor.html
Of course, if you have a different topic idea relating to the theme of
the conference, we will be happy to consider it as well.
Note: the deadline for submitting abstracts or workshop descriptions
is October 17th, 1998. The Program Committee would like to announce
the program in December 1998 to allow sufficient time for people to
receive permission to attend the conference. If you are planning to
submit, please send it to us by the deadline.
The general areas of TeX and the Web, Outline Fonts, and Graphics
generated the most interest. The specific topics of designing class
files and interactions between TeX and other software packages were
likewise very popular. There were repeated requests for specific,
step-by-step workshops about installing, converting, etc.
Some interest was also expressed in eplain and other general macro
packages; designing for print and electronic publication; designing
with color; intro's to pdf and html. While the general areas of
design, color, pdf, and html are not specifically TeX topics, they are
relevant to the task of preparing files for print and/or electronic
publication. We would be happy to consider presentations and workshops
on these topics.
Our thanks to everyone who responded to the survey,
TUG'99 Program Committee
