Dear Patrick,

pstopdf seems too much work for me.

Try to change the whole ps-file (after dvips) with freepdf.exe (it is
free). It is dependent of your ghostscript on the system, so that
should be there. But it delivers also - when so installed - a nice
log-file where you can see what was done. And of course you can modify
your resolution and some things more. I use it since years.
