Hi,
After trying to resist, I've finally given into the lure of PSTricks. I suppose my usual work flow of Mathematica -> Illustrator -> Preview -> PDFLaTeX was not the most efficient.
So here's my first question to the list. I've created this
\begin{center}
\begin{minipage}{3.5 in}
\begin{align*}
& & \left| 5-3x \right| \; &\rnode[b]{C3}{\leq} \; 7 & & \\
& & & & & \\
5-3x \; &\rnode[t]{L3}{\leq} \; 7 & \text{or}& & -\left(5-3x\right) \; &\rnode[t]{R3}{\leq} \; 7 \\
5-3x-5 &\leq 7-5 & & & -5+3x &\leq 7 \\
-3x &\leq 2 & & & -5+3x+5 &\leq 7+5 \\
-\frac{1}{3} \cdot -3x&\geq -\frac{1}{3}\cdot 2 & & & 3x &\leq 12 \\
x &\geq -\frac{2}{3} & & & \frac{1}{3}\cdot 3x &\leq \frac{1}{3}\cdot 12 \\
& & & & x &\leq 4
\end{align*}
\end{minipage}
\end{center}
\ncline[nodesep=12pt]{->}{C3}{L3} \ncline[nodesep=12pt]{->}{C3}{R3}
to show an absolute value inequality being decomposed into its component inequalities. When I include the relation symbol as the node, I lose the alignment and appropriate math spacing.
I tried putting $\leq$ in the node, but that generated a slew of errors.
I read through Van Zandt's documentation and noted \pnode on p. 60, but I'm not sure how to get the coordinate if I'm not using a \pspicture environment.
Any insight on how to keep these nodes and the alignment would be greatly appreciated.
