Hallo Herbert,

thank you for your help.

I interpret your answer correctly, that with \PSTtoEPS generated eps-files
can certainly be used elsewhere (for example with gsview) and not only in
a tex file?

I`m testing the example on two different systems (TeX Live on Debian and
MiKTeX on Windows). In both case, it isn`t possible to open the eps-files
with gsview (same error).
Can you open the exported eps-file of the example without any error?

I thought, a very simple and elegant way to use pspictures in other
software (irfanview, gimp etc.).
Example:
1. Exporting a pspicture with \PSTtoEPS in a .eps-file.
2. Convert the .eps-file in a jpg, png ... format.
3. Use the graphic in (shit happens) a word file

Regards,

Florian
