[pstricks] Please refresh my memory.

My TeX distro is texlive 2010. I use Pstricks only now and again.
Here is my main file colorp.tex:

\input pstricks.tex
\input color1.tex
\bye
-----------------------------
color1.tex consists of a repetitive series of lines like:
------------------------------------------------------
\definecolor{dummy} {cmyk}{0.0,0.0,0.0,0.0}%
etc.
--------------------
When I run:
tex colorp.tex
the very first line errors off like this:
Undefined control sequence
\definecolor
                   {dummy} {cmyk}{0.0,0.0,0.0,0.0}%

I am scratching my head trying to find the error.
