[pstricks] Simplifying curves with pstricks

Hi everybody,

my question is related to my previous post in some way. I want to use
pstricks
as much as I can. When I want to plot results extracted from numerical
simulations,
I may end up with curves defined by n segments connected through n-1
points. That's
pretty much the only way to plot very general results. With pstricks, I
would then use
a \mydata table storing the numerical values and the \dataplot command.

For illustration purposes, it makes sense sometimes to simplify the
curve for a smaller file.
Illustrator or Inkscape offer this simplifying feature transforming a
set of n segments in a set
of m splines with m<<n. Is there a way to achieve this with pstricks.
(In my previous post, I wanted
to plot an eps file simplified by the above Illustrator feature within a
pspicture environnement)

If I find a tool that is able to transform my data from n segments to m
splines, would \dataplot
be able to handle the splines instead of straight segments ?

Thank you
