You can't use pdfLatex with PSTricks.  The "PS" in PSTricks stands for
PostScript, but pdfLatex goes directly to PDF, without generating an
intermediate PostScript file.

You can certainly generate a normal PostScript file with latex and dvips,
and then convert the result to PDF with ps2pdf, Acrobat Distiller,
Ghostscript, or other tools.
