In fact, it seems not to be nodes that are the real root of the  
problem---PostScript coordinates fail also. Try

\rput(2,2){\psdot(!90 cos 90 cos)}

which you might think should be the same as

\rput(2,2){\psdot(1,1)}

but isn't.
