Does LaTeX stop during compiling? Does dvips cause the error?

Note: With that source you won't get a ready-to-go animation. You just 
produce the necessary frames for the animation which are one page after 
the other in the generated PDF.
You then have to use 'pdf2swf' from the swfTools to produce the animation.
