You are right, but pierce lacks English documentation.  I try to
automate my upgrades, and having taking pieces from different places
makes it difficult.  Well, maybe not:  I guess I can add to Makefile
something like
------------------------------------------------------
%
	wget http://www.perce.de/LaTeX/pst-pdf/$@
------------------------------------------------------

By the way, did anybody compare ps4pdf.sty and pst-pdf.sty?  What are
the advantages of each?  I use the former extensively, but the small
size differences caused by trimming made me look for alternatives.
