Yes, I did. The link was

But this example draws only errorbars in the y-axis. The entries in the 
datafile should be in the form of
  x y dyMin dyMax

I tried to add dxMin and dxMax in the entries but this doesn't work, as I 
already assumed. I think one could change the code between 
\makeatletter and \makeatother to do what I want.

I'm surprised that there seems to be no ready solution for my need. I never 
was in a situation where I wanted to set different values for dyMin dyMax but 
there were several occasions where I made a dx and a dy error bar for my 
measuring points.
