[pdftex] How to use \pdfsetmatrix

Hi,

I don't understand how to use \pdfsetmatrix.

------------
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
\pdfsave\pdfsetmatrix{5 0 0 5}\rule{1cm}{1cm}\pdfrestore
\end{document}
------------

gives me an error:

pdfTeX warning: pdflatex: Misplaced \pdfrestore by (2847719sp, 1864679sp)


What is the correct syntax?
