That is too strong a statement! Mathematical Sciences Publishers in 
Berkeley, Hindawi  and even Amazon, routinely convert TeX into ePub. In 
the case of Amazon it is not literal ePub, but Mobi format which is 
close. Hindawi posts their ware on their web-site ad there are a few 
others as well that I have seen ...
