[pdftex] Adding objects to the page

have you tried using the command
\begin{figure}[h!]
............................Note the emphasis on the letter h!

meaning place the figure HERE! ... leave enough room for the
figure ... otherwise it will "float" to the TOP of the next page.

Hope this is what you are looking for.
