[pdftex] \pdfelapsedtime

Hi,

I've noticed a problem with \pdfelapsedtime in TL'09:

\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
\showthe\pdfelapsedtime
\end{document}

In TeXLive 2008, this returns something a little over 2000; in  
TL'2009, it usually returns zero, but sometimes 65536. (pdfTeX is  
3.1415926-1.40.10 (TeX Live 2009).)

I've received confirmation (err, of sample size two including me) that  
this occurs on Mac OS X and Linux but not Windows builds of pdfTeX in  
TeX Live 2009.
