[pdftex] microtype / tracking / ligatures - question

You were right, I was using pdftex 1.40.3 which came with TeXLive  
2007. I just downloaded and compiled pdftex 1.40.7 -- everything  
works. I wasn't aware that an update of pdftex would help. Thanks much!
