I can confirm this. Adobe consider UniqueID obsolete now.
When I asked for a range of UniqueID numbers, I got this

| We (Adobe) now state that you no longer need the font ID numbers The only
| software that used them was PostScript interpreters - they still "use" them,
| but they no longer give a performance advantage. Here's a statement from our
