[pdftex] problem with page numbering in pdf/hyperref

Sorry for the confusion in my previous post. The problem is much
smaller than I thought but it is still here.

In the books first few pages are roman numbered, (say i-viii) and then
arabic numeration starts from 1. So, if I refer to the page with
arabic number 5  (it happens when I generate Subject Index)  it
actually goes to page with number v. So in this example problem
happens only with reference to pages 1-8.

Does anyone knows the correct way to fix it in frames of latex?
