Thank you for this informtion, so I stopp trying setup right now.

However (perhaps) woudn't it be a good idea to compose a complete
INSTALL text mentioning which file has to go where - for people
who want to update their old installation?

Or is that a stupid idea since we can expect that the majority
of people interested in these features just will replace their
old teTeX installation by the new one?
