[pdftex] Might this be a bug?

Sorry, I fear that I am responsible for such trivial error reports,
such as

>     (Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)

My advice in the thread in ctt was related to the real problem
of the original poster:

| with pdf(e)TeX results in a crash of the program. No error message, no
| entry in the logfile, nothing.

He (Oliver Jennrich) was using:

| MiKTeX-pdfTeX 2.4.1603 (1.20a-rc4) (MiKTeX 2.4)
