I just tried building pdftex-0.12a on SGI Irix using gcc.  ConTeXt seems
to work, but there were errors creating pdflatex:

$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.3
$ /bin/uname -aR

$ fmtutil --byfmt pdflatex
