For nonfiction and sometimes fiction I use Context, a pdflatex 
replacement that provides cropmarks easily e.g.:

\setuppapersize[a5][a4]
\setuplayout[location=middle,marking=on]

But the command structure in general is quite different from LateX. 

Some unlearning and relearning is required.
