Another pdf-derived format to watch is the pdf/is format adobe is
suggesting for the ieee's pwg's ifx standard.  They (the pwg) have
a copy of the current draft of pdf/is at:

    ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/QUALDOCS/wd-pdfis10-latest.pdf

currently aka:

    ftp://ftp.pwg.org/pub/pwg/QUALDOCS/wd-pdfis10-20030805.pdf 

There are some (imo) bugs in the spec, where it fails the liberal
in what you accept concept, but ....

It is more of a raster format than vector format, so will need its
own gs output format; it should probably also be a separate input
format from pdf.
