[pdftex] Acrobat 5.0x speed in linux

Not directly pdftex, but I've noticed a significant difference in speed between 
acrobat readers.  acroread4.0x (linux) and acrobat5.1 (windows) are very fast at 
displaying sequential pages (as is xpdf), but acroread5.0x (linux, RH8.0) is 
noticeably sluggish between pages, especially in full page mode.   Has anyone 
also noticed this and seen a fix for it?
