[pdftex] psfonts.map and pdftex.map.

According to the Pdftex Manual the layout of psfonts.map and pdftex.map
are essentially identical. Is there a reason why psfonts.map should
not be used for both purposes? What about a consolidated file
containing selections from each?

Just curious.
