The pdfTeX team is happy to announce the release of a new stable version:

===========================================================================
                           pdfTeX 1.10b
===========================================================================

This is the announce of pdfTeX 1.10b, an extended version of TeX that can
create PDF directly from TeX source files and enhance the result of TeX
typesetting with the help of PDF.

===========================================================================
  Main changes of pdfTeX 1.10b:
===========================================================================

- this is only a maintenance release fixing some bugs that had
  crept into 1.10a and incorporating some speed ups.

===========================================================================
  Main changes of pdfTeX 1.10a:
===========================================================================

- pdfTeX is now able to produce pdf1.4 (which is also the default) and has
  almost complete support for including pdf1.4 files.

- It is now possible to set the pdf version of generated files.

- It is now possible to specify the pdf page box to use when including pdfs.

- The support for the inclusion of jpeg images has been extended to allow
  the inclusion of JPEG/Exif files which are produced by digital photo
  cameras.

- The support for the inclusion of tif images has been removed as it was of
  limited use and produced wrong results.

- The extensions for pdf encryption have been removed, since they made the
  pdfTeX code overly complex.

  The files / installation
===========================================================================

You should first try to get a new version of pdfTeX through your
distribution; e.g. the recently released teTeX 2.0 already contains it.

If you want to compile it yourself or want precompiled binaries, have a
look at http://www.pdftex.org -- there you can find links to the current
TeXlive sources (which already contains pdfTeX 1.10b) and precompiled
binaries for most operating systems. And some usefull documentation.
