[pdftex] How To display '<' or '>' or '|'

The simplest is to use a tt font e.g. with \texttt{-> <form>}
If you want to have a nicer layout use the listings package.
By the way, this is not a Pdftex question, rather a latex question which is
best asked on the comp.text.tex newsgroup.
