[pdftex] Rotate for display/print

Hi,

landscape A4 documents made by pdftex (\pdfpagewidth=297mm,
\pdfpageheight=210mm) are displayed landscape by Acroread, and are
automatically rotated to fit on A4 paper for print. xpdf behaves the
same. But gv in my Linux box does not rotate, so parts of the page are
missing in print.

Now, is this automatic rotating of landscape pages for print, as done by
Acroread and xpdf, a reliable thing? Or is it better to force it, is
there a way, e. g. for gv? (But the landscape view on screen should be
kept.)
