[pdftex] ! Math formula deleted: Insufficient symbol fonts.

Yesterday I asked:

> What can be wrong with my font (...) installation, if (...)
> pdfetex (...) fails on "$\aleph $\end" by saying:
> ! Math formula deleted: Insufficient symbol fonts. 

Found it: Some corrupted Computer Modern tfm/vf files
have remained in a distant folder within the font search path.
