[pdftex] pdftex installation

Hi,
I would like to know how should I install the newest
version of pdftex in my tetex distibution.
Indeed, I have the tetex distribution tetex-1.0.7-35mdk.i586.rpm
from Mandrake, but it has pdftex 13d and I would like to
get pdftex 14h.
I tried to replace the binary but I have the following message
error :

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-14h-released-20010417 (Web2C 7.3.3.1)
(Fatal format file error; I'm stymied)

What does it mean ?
So, how can I just upgrade pdftex in my distribution ?
What files should I upgrade and how ?
