[pdftex] Tabular Output Wrong

what's happening isn't at all clear.  the tabular you show wouldn't
compile at all, anyway (even allowing for square bracket rather than
brace, there are only two columns specified).

however, if you don't use a p column specifier, the tabular column
won't wrap.  perhaps the missing column specifier isn't p{width}?
