[pdftex] myfonts.map precedence

With a myfonts.map in a local directory, dvips uses its entries, which
quietly overrule the corresponding entries in a global .map file.

But this is different with pdftex: There one gets a "Warning: pdftex
(file myfonts.map): entry for `font' already exists, duplicates
ignored."

Wouldn't it be more natural for pdftex also to have the precedence like:
. ~ texmf-local texmf? Which would allow easily to do non-standard
font-mappings with some myfonts.map in a certain directory (as it is
possible with dvips).

Merry Christmas and Greetings

Hartmut
