[pdftex] request for help with pictures and pdflatex

Greetings!

I am writing to seek help on the following problem.  Using pdflatex
[(Web2C 7.3.1) 3.14159-0.13d] and fixseminar.sty I could generate
landscape slides; this works fine for documents containing graphics
generated by tgif.  However, I have trouble with other graphics such as
screen captures or scanned images.  A PDF file is still produced, but
the graphics are scambled similar to those cable TV channels one cannot
access.  (pdflatex displayed the message of "Non-PDF special ignored!")
These problematic images were converted to the eps format with gimp or
xv; and the eps files were then converted using epstopdf.  These
problematic images are fine when I read them individually with acroread,
or when I use dvips and then ps2pdf.
