[pdftex] Dropcaps for pdf

« Does anyone know of an implementation for dropcaps (first letter of a sentence 
« in big font with wrapping) for pdflatex?  dropping.sty uses pstricks.

Try lettrine.sty, it is on texlive and on ctan: 
tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/supported/lettrine

It works with latex and pdflatex. Have a look at the demo file for usage
(demo.tex and demo.ps in the doc directory).
