What do other people do to organize projects with multiple PDF files?

I have collections of related documents which should be linked from
a single overview document. Some of these collections have periodic
additions, so it doesn't make sense to merge these into a single
document. Many similar collections use [x|ht]ml indices with links
to the pdf documents, but it is difficult to maintain a consistent
style across PDF and [x|ht]ml.
