[pdftex] Acrobat Reader 4.0 bug, incompatible with pdftex?

Hi Ben,

I took a look at simple.pdf, using Acrobat 4.0.5 for Macintosh.  I did not
see the problems you were talking about.  Are you trying this on Windows?

Are you trying to view the file in a web browser using the Acrobat plug-in
for IE and Navigator?  If so, you might want to download the file to your
machine first, and launch Acrobat separately to view the document.  This
has "solved" the problem countless times for readers of AMS online
journals.
