[pdftex] Line Height Problem

Hi,

I'm using PdfLatex to generate a report card with "tables" from a sql
database using the tabular environment.

I apologize for the stupid question, but how can I increase the line height
inside the tabular cells (or rows)? I've tried \vspace without much
success. I'm definitely not a TeXpert!

Can anyone help an old highschool teacher? <grin>
