[pdftex] xform inclusion question

Hello all!

I see that an \pdfrefxform yields the following type of PDF-output
  q
  1 0 0 1 dx dy cm
  /FmNN Do
  Q
Is there another way of including xforms so that we have
more control over its rotation etc with one 'cm' only?
Can one force an xform name into a page's Reources list
without using \pdfrefxform? (I'm trying to save a few
bytes here...)
